In Edge of Darkness, coming to Kickstarter on February 20th, Guild Leaders (players) need to be able to change their strategies to react to the actions of their opponents.
Generally speaking one of the best ways to win Edge of Darkness is to select a strategy early in the game and try to optimize your cards and worker placement to achieve it. But the actions of other players may interfere with your plans. When that happens you need to be able to inject some flexibility into your strategy.
The Forge Location is one of the ways you can do that. The Forge Location itself has no effect. But the Advancement that it provides, the Blacksmith, is quite useful.
When you have a Blacksmith in your hand you have the choice to either use it to generate Coins or Combat Strength for a Hunt. You can only do one or the other with each Blacksmith you activate on your turn.
You’ll always have a positive net income if you choose to generate Coins even if you have to pay another Guild Leader (player) for using a card they own.
The Threat on the back of the Blacksmith is the Shade Knight, a heavily armored champion of the darkness with a bloody reputation.
