The new expansions come in smaller boxes than the previous expansions. Are they really as valuable?

It has long been a practice in retail sales of board games that the box needs to be big and have a presence on the shelf–even when that big box only contains a deck of cards and a couple of components.

In the last few years, the costs of shipping, storage, and logistics of products all across the board has increased quite a bit and it’s time to rethink that practice. There are also environmental concerns to be considered. The oversized packaging is a waste of energy and resources and it’s time to address that impact and make changes.

Starting with the expansions in this campaign, we are switching to packaging that utilizes the space and materials needed in a much better and more efficient way.

This new direction is especially true in game expansions, which are add-on editions to existing base games.

We hope you understand and embrace this update in policy as we continue to adapt to the ever changing world around us.
